Ambiance-The best way to describe this resort is hip and new age. When you first enter the lobby you notice the walls are all white, very simple with funky art and furniture. The rep explained to me the style is minimalist by the same architect of the Le Blanc in Cancun. Unlike the massive Moon Palace, this is much smaller with only 200 rooms. Don't let the word minimalist fool you, this is one classy resort.
Beach- The beach was restored in early 2010 and looks better than ever.
Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra.
Distances-Not only is the resort hip but it has a hip location right on the edge of Playa del Carmen.
Entertainment on Property -They do have entertainment in the evening and you are right there for nightlife in Playa del Carmen.
Fitness Area - Their fitness center is at the Playacar Spa and Golf Club.
Food- There are 3 restaurants of which 2 are a-la-carte serving Asian and Italian cuisine. Palace Resorts is known for being a step ahead of the other resorts in the quality of the dining experience.
Getting Around- You can walk to everything or take a taxi.
Internet Access - They do have wireless internet access.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants.
Kids- Children are allowed here but my feeling is this is more for couples.
Lighting-The resort is well laid out and well lit at night.
Medical Services-On call medical services.
Negatives- We will have to see if Wyndham maintains the quality that Palace Resorts is know for.
Nightlife- Plenty of nightlife in town
Opportunities-Take advantage of the free tours when you stay at this resort, like Chichen Itza, Coba or Tulum.
Pool- I love how the pool overlooks the ocean. You would find me relaxing at the pool just gazing out over the ocean.
Protection-In room safe.
Recreation-Rest and relaxation is the focus here with the Spa. Also, this is a great resort for golfers with the course within walking distance.
Rooms-All of the rooms have jacuzzis which is really nice. With the minimalist design you will not find clutter like lamps on the tables. The lights are built into the table. I told you this place is hip. They do offer a small number of adjoining rooms that share an interior door.
Shopping-Plenty of shopping in Playa del Carmen and if you can't get your fill you can take the ferry over to Cozumel.
Terrain-A small resort so you can be down at the pool or on the beach in no time.
Updates-Wyndham took over the resort in 2010.
View-Fantastic views of the ocean, one of the few resorts in the Riviera Maya that can boast this.
Weather-December through May are the driest months. September through November are the wettest months.
WOW Factor-The jacuzzis in the room and the cool hip look and feel to the resort.
X-Y-Z-If you are looking for something different and are into this style of architecture you will love this resort.
