Beach - The resort is in the heart of Acapulco so the beach is wide but congested with people. If you want to get away from it all, this would not be a good choice. Charges (extra) - Since this is not an all-inclusive resort, all meals and services would be extra much like any resort in the United States. Distances - In the heart of hotel row so convenient to everything in Acapulco.
Fitness Area - Very very small fitness area. I say get that work out in before you travel. Food - They have 2 restaurants,El Faro serving Spanish cuisine and Bambuco that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Getting Around - Taxi is the most convenient since you are so close to everything. Internet Access -They have wireless internet access from the rooms with an extra charge and PCs in the business center. Jackets and Ties - Keep them at home, but people tend to dress up more for dinner in Acapulco.
Little Known Fact-The hotel was named after a sea captain with the last name Elcano. Thus the nautical theme. Medical Services -One of the few resorts with an on site doctor. Negatives -If you are looking for structured kids programs and lots of entertainment, this would not be a good fit. Nightlife -Acapulco is known for its nightlife. Things don't really get started until midnight and go until 5am. I on the other hand am sleeping by midnight and awake by 5am. Pool -Small in comparison to the other resorts but they do have 4 Jacuzzis which makes up for it. Protection - Safety deposit boxes in each room.
Rooms -They have studios, standard rooms and Junior suites. The studios are unique in that they all have king beds but no balconies. But even better than a balcony is you can open the large sliding glass door and with the table and chairs it is almost like the whole studio becomes your balcony. I thought it was pretty cool. All the rooms are ocean front. Shopping - Small sundry shop on property. Plenty of shopping right around the resort. Spa- They offer massage spa services but no formal spa. Terrain - Very small and self contained with only 180 rooms. You can get from your room to the beach in no time.
View-Since all the rooms face the ocean there is not a bad view in the resort. Weather-June through October is rainy season but more of the rain comes overnight. Acapulco boasts over 330 days of sunshine. November through April are the nicest months of the year WOW Factor-No gimmicks, just good value for the money and a great location. X-Y-Z -This is one of those resorts where if you do not want or need all the amenities of a larger resort but want a clean comfortable room and be in a great location, you will be satisfied.
