Beach - Since there is nothing built next to the resort on the north side you have about 2 miles of wonderful beach to walk along. Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra. Distances- Only 30 minutes from the airport and Cancun making it convenient to get into town for shopping and nightlife. Other than staying right in Cancun, this area is more convenient to get into town than the Riviera Maya. Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. Fitness Area - Yowza! All of the Excellence properties put a lot into their Spa and fitness area. They did not cut any corners here either.
Getting Around- Taxi is your best bet and not too expensive to get into downtown. I enjoy downtown Cancun better than the main island where all the resorts are. Internet Access -There is wi-fi access from your room making it very convenient. Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Kids-Sorry kiddos, adults only.
Medical Services-On call medical services. Negatives- The only negative is if you are traveling with kids. You need to keep them at home to stay here. Nightlife- They have their own theatre for shows and plenty of nightlife in Cancun. Opportunities-If you are a golfer you need to play a round at the Playa Mujeres Golf Club. Pool- Pools, pools and more pools. From the main pools to the swim-up pools I am in pool heaven.
Recreation-Plenty of water sports but the spa is one of the major focuses here. Rooms - Ok, get your decoder rings out since they do have quite a few different room types. The rooms here are the type where you might not even want to leave the room. They have rooms with canopy beds, jacuzzi tubs and they are all Junior Suites. If you clan splurge, get one of the swim up rooms. Descriptions are below in the Just the Facts section. Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in Cancun. Spa-This is one of their claims to fame. I am not a big spa person but having seen many spas over the years, this one is very impressive.
Updates-Brand new, just opened in 2007. View-Right on the ocean and the Junior Suites in the Excellence Club have Ocean Views. Weather-December through May are the best months for weather. The wettest months are late September through early November WOW Factor-The swim-up rooms and the Spa. X-Y-Z-Once again Excellence has lived up to their reputation and this a great choice for couples that want a great resort, be close to Cancun and still feel like you are secluded. Ambiance - Fantastic is the best way to describe this resort. Like an oasis in this newly developed area just north of Cancun. Opulent without being pretentious.
Food- 8 restaurants, all which are a-la-carte featuring Mediterranean, Asian, Japanese, Italian and French Cuisine. They also have the grill that turns into the steakhouse in the evening and do not forget my favorite, the Lobster House. Guess what they serve there? Another nice feature is no reservations are required and you may dine at any of the restaurants as many times as you wish. 
Little Known Fact -A feature in the rooms that I have only seen at a couple of other resorts is what they call the Room Service Closet. If you order room service, they can leave the food in the closet from the outside and you can open it from the inside and never have to be bothered opening the door to let them in. Pretty clever I think.
