There are several ancient
Mayan ruins around Playa del Carmen including Tulum, one of the prettiest archeological
sites in Mexico that your family is sure to love exploring.
If your family is not laying
on the beach, you might want to try snorkeling, diving, fishing, or sailing. The
world's second largest reef system runs along the coastline. A fun water-filled
day can be spent at Xcaret or Xel-Ha, your family can swim with dolphins or through
an underground river. The golfers in your family can enjoy the 18-hole Playacar
Club de Golf.
Playa del Carmen's colorful
markets are one of the areas main attractions. Several native craft traditions
and a vibrant Mayan culture give the mercados an intriguing quality. The region
is famous for hammocks, Panama hats, and guayabera shirts.
