Sightseeing |
|
For a concentrated collection
of sea sightseeing, honeymooners can head to either Chankanaab Park or Playa Corona
in the south or Castillo Real in the north. Chankanaab Park has a lovely lagoon
and a dolphin aquarium. The park also has botanical gardens, dive shops, gift
shops and restaurants, making this ideal for an all-day excursion.
Honeymooners can also explore El Cedral and San Gervasio. El Cedral was once the hub
of Mayan activity on the island. Today it hosts a huge festival each May. San
Gervasio is the largest existing Mayan ruin and the island and was the island's
capital and ceremonial center. One of the highlights is the temple that has red
hand prints all over the alter.
Activities |
|
The island of Cozumel has
many waterside activities for you to enjoy on your honeymoon. Relax on the beach, or go
swimming or windsurfing. Snorkeling and diving are popular around Palancar Reef,
a mountainous underwater formation six miles long and 300 feet high. Since only
about 6% of Cozumel's territory has any development, honeymooners can explore beaches,
lagoons and jungle-like forests to your hearts content. |
|
Shopping |
|
San Miguel's waterfront
boulevard and the main plaza are the centers of Cozumel's shopping. Thanks to
the island's duty-free status and discriminating cruise ship clientele, Cozumel
has well-stocked stores selling quality Mexican and imported items. An island
specialty is exquisite black coral jewelry.
